plain and simple : congratulation to Mr. Obama, and thank you for making the whole world feel hopeful -and dare I say happy- at the same time, at the same instant, and hopefully for a long time to come.

Regarding the future, we have tomorrow to talk about it.
For now, we go to sleep with a better, more rested mind than we had before dinner tonight.

Country First

I think it’s cheap.
I think it’s borderline immoral.
I think it’s pure manipulation

but I also think it’s legitimate, genius, effective, powerful, and dangerous.

COUNTRY FIRST, the new campaing slogan/direction by the republican party, is now being over-highlighted following the Gustav disaster, in a move that may just win them the election. and it’s rooted in pure evil : profiting from a natural disaster and people’s distress to strengthen the campaign’s appeal. What a disgustingly good idea !

The concept itself is so smart and so layered, that many democrats will be lured to it. Basically, they’re inviting the country to forget about parties, and unite (“put on our American hats”). And it seems that that’s exactly what the country is waiting to hear.  And if there’s anything the republicans are good at, is giving us a false sense of security, hiding behind the idea of “national unity”, like it’s going to solve anything other than appease the egos, and give the angry something to chew on.

Also, this hurricane is doing them so much good it’s not even funny : Bush’s speech is cancelled (mccain must be on cloud 9), the party’s “human” image is boosted, they got some pity for cancelling day 1 of the convention, they got this new, exciting campaign tagline AND, most importantly, the government is actually handling Gustav very well so they’re scoring points there.

The republican campaign, as jon stewart smartly put it, is really trying to say : “Give us another chance, we won’t fuck up this time!“. Of course you won’t….

Dems, get your act on!

Finally Obama has picked joe biden as his running mate…

Like the Obama/Osama confusion wasn’t enought, we now have more to chew on : OsAMA BInlaDEN.
This pick is definitely not helping the “confusion” and I bet American media pick that up as soon as this morning ! (sorry I could’nt resist making that joke)

Now seriously, I think it’s an excellent choice. Biden is a good companion for foreign issues and has a ton of experience.

Go Obama !

Obama! Obama!

A little nod to Obama for his nomination (and this sexy baywatch shot)

Why do I care ? I’m not American.
Do I really have to be American to care ? I don’t think so!
Most americans don’t care. But since Obama came along, more of them pay attention and are pro-active about politics. And for that only, I salute his campaign efforts. It’s about time the American people stand up and take some control.

Watching his speach last night gave me hope for the future of international relations. Yes, I know, these are campain speeches, but it was really a relief to see that the potential future president of the world’s foremost superpower has the charisma to convince me. That’s really something important. His nation will be able to look up to him and be conforted.

Congrats Mr Obama.

Now, tell us, are you a closet muslim terrorist like the republicans paint you? hahaha 🙂 American politics are fascinating in that they are as interesting as they are ridiculous ?
